This Seikomatic was originally released alongside the Seikomatic selfdater in 1962. This model was Seiko’s first automatic wristwatch to have a depth rating of 30m - hence the proudly donned waterproof logo on both the dial and caseback. The dial on this particular piece has the coveted octogonal sun shaped “special dial” logo above the six o’clock which means that the index are made of white gold.
Overall, this Seikomatic is in really nice condition. The case has been polished in the past but is still very sharp with its very attractive faceted lugs visible. The dial condition is excellent considering its age, with just minor spotting. The caseback is in good condition with the dolphin and engravings faintly visible in a angle. This piece was serviced in March 2019 and is currently running at an excellent 5.9 sec/day.
