The first generation 62 World Time (6217-7000) was Japan’s first ever watch equipped with a world time complication - a feature that paired a GMT function with a rotating bezel listing 26 international city names. More importantly, along with the Crown One Push Chrono and the mythical Counter Chono, the Word Time made up the trio of wrist watches that were sold to commemorate the 1964 Tokyo Summer Olympics. There were two main dial colors released for the first gen World Time - the silver dial and black dial. Both featured an Olympic torch logo that was etched on the case back (later case back’s featured stamped logo’s). The Olympic World Time's were produced only for a short period in 1964 with the later case back logo eventually changing to a Dolphin logo. Along with the etched case back, the early World Time’s can be distinguished by the black GMT hand, lack of lame on the hour and minute hands, and a large unsigned crown. The text around the 6 o’clock index also has “made in Japan” printed.

This is excellent example of the early 62 Word Time with the etched Olympic torch case back. This particular example dates back to August 1964, two months before the Tokyo Summer Olympic games were held. The watch looks to be all original with a near flawless dial combined with an outstanding case condition. The original handset and unsigned crown is in great condition showing light signs of aging. Much of the etched logo and lettering on the case back have worn off but the Olympic torch is still visible. The movement is in great shape having been recently serviced. The steel bracelet is an after market non original generic metal bracelet.
