This watch needs no introduction. Inspired by the Renault tanks that the French jeweler saw in battle on the Western Front during the first World War, the Tank has been the foundation of Cartier since 1917. This example is the Tank released as part of the Must de Cartier line that the French maison first introduced in 1977. The watch paid tribute to the original Tank Louis Cartier and was launched with more than a dozen different dial options, like dark blue or red and even a striped pattern, or three shades of gold. This example is the highly coveted Red lacquer dial featuring a manual wind movement.

Overall, this piece is in excellent condition. The case has few stratches and retains its beautiful original edges. All the hallmarks are very crisp on the case and caseback. The original red lacquer dial is in very clean condition with no blemishes. The original hands as well as the blue spinel cabochon is in good shape. The automatic movement was last serviced in early 2021 and is currently running at +8.3 sec/day. The watch comes with a new black leather strap as well as its original Cartier gold plated buckle.
