The 45GS series was the second, and final series to be manufactured by the Daini Seikosha company. The 4520-8000 adheres closely to the ‘grammar of design’ case design introduced in the 44GS models with the case being slightly smaller than its older sibling. There were just three calibres used for the 45GS series – the 4520A (no complication), the 4522A (with date complication), and the legendary 4580 VFA.
Overall, this piece is in great vintage condition. The case has some small surface scratches but we believe it is unpolished or has just been polished once or twice in the past given that the case retains sharp edges with a beautiful Tanaka grammar of design profile. The original silver/white dial is in clean condition with just one tiny hairline scratch below the Seiko applid logo along to the 2 o'clock index. This can be seen in the macro photo pictured. There are no other visible blemishes or discoloration on the dial. The crystal is very clean with no visible scratches. The handset and crown are all original and in good condition. The movement has just been serviced in April, 2020 and is running at -2.8 seconds / day. As can be seen in the picture, the gold medallion on the caseback is slightly cracked on the left side. The condition of the caseback is reflected in the asking price.
