The 45GS series was the second, and final, Grand Seiko series to be manufactured by Daini Seikosha Kameido (Tokyo) Factory. There were four case variations introduced in the 45GS series and this particular example features the rare 7000 case variation. The 7000 case series features a highly angular design and is nicknamed the "turtle shell" by Japanese collectors. This 7000 case series were available in both steel and cap gold variants, with the steel versions being available with two different dial finishes – white linen textured, and a dark blue matte. The production period was short for the 7000 case series when compared to the other three case series in the 45GS - hence the rarirty of this variation.
Overall, this all original 45GS is in great vintage condition. The case has just been polished and thus has no major scratches. Although polished, the case retains its original sharp edges of the turtle shell design. The original and beautiful dark blue matte dial has formed some patina and there is ageing on the dial - particularly in the lower right side of the dial (can be seen on the macro picture). The handset and crown are all original and has honest ageing but is in good condition. The movement has been serviced in August, 2020 and is currently running at an -4.2 sec/day. The caseback and gold medallion is original and is in good condition.
