Introduced in 1963, there are three different iterations of the 57GS series over the course of its lifetime being based on three different movements. The first example of the 57GS series was a model numbered 43999, based on the 18,000 bph 430 movement. This was followed by the 5722-9990 – typically utilising the 5722A movement, and finally the 5722-9991, using a 5722B movement which ran at 19,800 bph.
Overall, this GS 43999 is in great vintage condition. The case is the main attraction herenwith the thick lugs most likely never polished, retaining its original beautiful bevelling. The original silver dial is clean with some minor spotting throughout and some damage on the 4 o'clock index. The dial is the coveted and rare SD (special dial) dial variant as can be seen by the sun logo above the six o’clock index. This means that the index are made of white gold. The handset and crown looks to be original and are both in great condition. The gold lion medallion on the caseback is original and is in fantastic condition. The movement has just been serviced by our watch maker in September 2020 and is running well at -1.2 seconds / day. It will come with a 3 month movement warantee.
