Introduced in 1963, there are three different iterations of the 57GS series over the course of its lifetime being based on three different movements. The first example of the 57GS series was a model numbered 43999 (which we have on offer here), based on the 18,000 bph 430 movement. This was followed by the 5722-9990 – typically utilising the 5722A movement, and finally the 5722-9991, using a 5722B movement which ran at 19,800 bph.
Overall, this GS 43999 AD dial is in great vintage condition. The case is the main attraction here with the thick lugs most likely never polished, retaining its original beautiful bevelling. The original silver dial has some minor spotting throughout and the print on the dial has stained most likely due to moisture entry. The dial is the AD (applique) dial variant as can be seen by the hexagonal logo above the six o’clock index. The handset and crown looks to be original and are both in good condition. The gold lion medallion on the caseback is original and is in fantastic crips shape. The movement has just been serviced by the prior owner on February 2021 and is running well at +5.6 seconds / day.
